One of our 5 Purposes at PCC is to BE THE CHANGE in the world around us. We live out that purpose when we “DO GOOD”. More than ever, humanity needs people to be the hands and feet of Jesus and DO GOOD both around the world and right here in our campus communities.
Do Good Locally
See the list at the bottom of this page for ways you can do good right where you are!
DO GOOD Ideas
NEIGHBORS
Consider those you see struggling with loss, health challenges, hardship, or just general lack of support—even single parents with exponentially more responsibility.
- Mow their lawn
- Take a meal (homemade or purchased)
- Bake and take some cookies
- Take mail and perhaps newspaper to their door
- Organize home repairs (reach out to your Do Good Coordinator or Campus Pastor for support)
- Go get groceries for someone unable to go out
- Deliver balloons or flowers for encouragement
- Make a family fun kit (s’mores, popcorn pack w/movie rental code) for your neighbors.
- Leave encouraging surprises
- Grab some gloves and a trash bag. Walk around your neighborhood or local park and pick up trash. Feel free to pause and encourage any neighbors you see along the way!
- Babysit for friend or neighbor–for free–so they can have a date night
- In snowy weather help neighbors by checking on them
- Get a group together to go caroling at Christmas
ACTS OF KINDNESS
- Have kids draw special pictures. Use these as wrapping paper—tuck inside a piece of wrapped candy or a silk flower, along with a note like “Thanks for being so nice!” or “You made my day!” Then keep these in a bag and when you’re out together, stay on the lookout for a nice cashier, helpful librarian, or kind friend to hand out your surprise packages!
- Make a “sunshine kit” for someone who may need cheering up.
- Help someone whose vehicle has broken down.
- Help someone move
- Save and give your boxes to someone moving.
- Pay for the coffee of someone behind you.
- Leave your quarter in the cart at Aldi for the next person.
- Offer your seat on a crowded bus or train to someone.
- Have a garden? Plant 1/3 for you, 1/3 for friends, 1/3 for deer.
SUPPORTING THE ELDERLY
-
- Deliver fresh flowers to a local nursing home.
- Make cards for nursing home residents and health care providers. Pray for them on the way to deliver their surprises.
- Instead of Christmas caroling, sing other songs at nursing home windows.
- Do lawn work
- Do chores
HOSPITALS, SERVICE MEMBERS, COMMUNITY HELPERS, & SCHOOLS
-
- Buy a sandwich or snack for a policeman, fireman, or first responder
- Write letters to deployed service members – CLICK HERE TO DO THAT
- Send a care package to someone in the military
- Place American flags at a veteran’s cemetery.
- Support students by contributing to scholarships
- Serve bottled water at local sports practices or events.
- Spread cheer at your local hospital for staff & patients with signs, free donuts, etc.
- Offer to buy classroom supplies for a teacher that you know (many have amazon wish lists).

Be the Change
Change happens—it’s inevitable.
But it’s not enough to just be changed.
In order to live the fullest lives possible, we need to understand that changed people help change people, that we are called to “be the change.” In this message from Teaching Pastor Elijah Schiarelli, discover three tangible “how’s” for practically being the change.
