PCC's COVID-19 Response

Check Back for Regular Updates

STATUS: 4pm Friday, April 3

As our entire world continues to navigate the impact of the COVID-19, PCC is moving forward firm in our conviction that God works in all things, and that He is at work right now, even in the midst of these unusual circumstances.

Based on the extension of the stay-at-home order from Governor Northam this week, here is what you can expect each week through June 10 :

  • Church Online every Sunday at pccwiredLIVE.net at 8:30, 10:00, and 11:30AM
  • Rebroadcast of the Sunday service, available by 10:00AM every Monday morning at pccwiredLIVE.net.
  • PCC Kids LIVE experience every Sunday at 9:30 and 11:00AM at pcckidsLIVE.net.
  • LIVE Mid-Week Worship every Thursday at 7:15PM on YouTube.
  • Daily Worship LIVE every weekday morning at 7:30AM on Facebook, including music and a short devotional from our Word of God Speak Bible Reading Plan.
  • PCC Kids Evening Devotionals on PCC Kids Facebook, Sunday-Thursday evenings at 7:00PM.
  • PCC Students have expanded their presence, and student leadership has created several methods of communication. You can like, subscribe, and follow PCC Students here:
  • Online Small Groups are still happening weekly, using virtual platforms like Zoom for discussion, connection, and prayer. You can host and/or join a group, as well as learn more about Zoom. If you are interested in hosting a group, please join us on Sunday, April 5 at 1:00PM for an interest meeting. Register here

In addition to these weekly events and gatherings, you can engage in other ways as follows:

The church is still a beacon of light and hope.

People are contacting us seeking prayer, guidance, and financial assistance. The following are our efforts to both serve you and help you serve others. Feel free to point friends and family to these resources and avenues of support.

  • Helping the Helpers – We deeply and passionately care about those who are caring for people during this crisis. We want to know their names and cover you in prayer. If you are a medical professional, hospital and care facility staff, pharmacy staff, EMS, police/fire, trucker, grocery or convenience store worker, social worker, mechanic, post office worker, or delivery driver, we’d love to hear from you. Let us know how we can help
  • Financial, Food, and Recovery Resources – We’ve assembled a page of financial, food, and recovery resources to help the many affected by these events.
  • Our office remains open M-F, 9:00AM-5:00PM, and staffed with several of our pastors. PCC’ers and anyone seeking care or assistance can still visit the church office, email info@pccwired.net, or call 804-598-1174.

Finally, PCC Leadership is hard at work in this season. Utilizing Zoom for virtual video conferencing, the Strategic Leadership Team meets daily to pray and seek wisdom as we lead the church. The Steering Team has increased the frequency of their meetings as well, and the entire PCC Staff gathers weekly to discuss ministry efforts and ways to care for our communities. Along with Ministry Teams, Coordinator Teams, and other groups, all of the leadership at PCC remains committed to living out our mission and serving our communities

Pray for our communities, our nation, and our world; and pray for your church as we continue to seek and serve God.

STATUS: 10pm Saturday, March 28

As our entire world continues to navigate the impact of the COVID-19, PCC is moving forward firm in our conviction that God works in all things, and that He is at work right now, even in the midst of these unusual circumstances. Pastor Brian Hughes reminded us that there was a time when Jesus’ disciples were on lockdown, behind closed doors, and terrified – and in that moment, the supernatural power of God became a reality for them (see Acts 2). Out of that moment came the movement that is the church today, in all its power. We remember that God is bigger than any disease and that He is working, even now! As we seek to join Him in that work, we are hard at work in the following areas:

Church Online is still happening every Sunday morning. At pccwiredLIVE.net you can watch Sunday’s service live, as well as catch the rebroadcast (available by 10AM every Monday morning).

PCC Kids is launching its LIVE online platform this Sunday, March 29. Watch our live experience for kids at pcckidsLIVE.net on Sunday mornings at 9:30 and 11:00AM.

As we seek to centralize our online content, we are asking everyone to subscribe to PCC’s Youtube channel. You can connect with us on Facebook as well, where you’ll find live Daily Worship and mid-week worship opportunities on PCC’s page, evening devotionals for kids on the PCC Kids page, and individual offerings from worship leaders like Paul Myers,  Lindsay Harris, Becca Easterling, and Beth Stoddard. Daily Worship streams live on Facebook every weekday at 7:30 AM as well.

In addition to so many exciting opportunities across our campuses, each campus now has its own campus Facebook group. In these groups, Campus Pastors and Campus Moderators connect and communicate regarding information, needs, and opportunities specific to that community. You can access these pages HERE.

Small groups are still ongoing, using virtual platforms like Zoom for discussion, connection, and prayer. You can join a group – it’s a great time to connect! For more info, contact us here.

Right now, our specific rallying cry is to support those people who are helping people. First responders and health care workers are on the front line of this unprecedented situation, and we are seeking out ways to care for and support them as they help others. If we can offer to support to you or someone you know, please let us know how we can help

STATUS:  9:30 am Sunday, March 15

We have made the decision to meet online again Sunday, March 22.  We have not made a decision for Sunday, March 29 except for Midlothian and Amelia, which are not meeting due to the Governor’s closing of all public schools.  As future decisions are made, we will communicate them as soon as possible.

During this time, people are seeking prayer, guidance and financial assistance, so our office will officially be open, and we may be reached at info@pccwired.net or 804-598-1174.

In this present moment, and in the weeks to come, we have opportunities to be lights. Our calling is not to respond in panic or fear, but to be examples of peace and faith.  If you are a follower of Jesus, then you always represent Him and His church. Be bearers of good news and voices of peace.

As Brian said today, love your neighbor as yourself.  Reach out to JUST ONE person to meet tangible needs. Let’s take care of our neighbors.  Let’s change the chatter from panic to peace. Let’s NOT make permanent decisions or let fear win.

Thank you for your commitment to PCC, your trust in God, and your willingness to care for people around you. And when you pray, remember to pray for our church.

STATUS: 7pm Friday, March 13

As you may know by now, the President declared a state of emergency for the entire country today. That means that we are in an emergency status of some kind at the national, state and local level. We know that not all of the news is accurate. We’re aware that not every action happening around us is rational.  But we also know that people are looking to our church for guidance and leadership. Putting masses of people in close proximity to each other seems like an irresponsible thing to do, given that every other large gathering around us is cancelled – including every other large church (Journey, Hope, Atlee, etc.)  The risk is just too high.

So with the approval and support of PCC’s Strategic Leadership Team and PCC’s Steering Team, we have made the difficult decision to have church ONLINE ONLY this coming Sunday, March 15. There will be no physical campuses meeting this week. But we will offer a very potent LIVE Online experience, and we encourage every single person to attend.

We have also decided to postpone the IF gathering and any Small Groups that meet in our buildings for the next week. (Home-based Small Groups are at the discretion of each Small Group leader.)

For folks who say, “I’m young.  My family is young. We’re going to be fine even if we get the virus.” That may be true. But listen to this command from the Bible: “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. (Philippians 2:3-4) For those of us who are young and healthy, we’re doing something selfless to protect those who are vulnerable. In this way, we are ‘valuing others above ourselves’. We believe that this decision honors God.

We decided to take this week by week, day by day. So no decision has been made about the following Sunday (March 22).

This is not a decision we have taken lightly. Not gathering physically is a sacrifice, but we can still have church. We will be live Online Sunday at 8:30, 10 and 11:30am at pccwiredlive.net. As of last Sunday, almost a thousand people already regularly attended online. This coming Sunday, that number will be several thousand.  Don’t miss it. Now, more than ever, we need a vibrant connection with the living God and with each other.

One final thought: this is the moment for the church to rise above the noise and speak hope into the world.  We have the hope that people need! In the midst of lots of chaos, this one thing is certain: God works ALL THINGS for the GOOD of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. (Romans 8:28).  Somehow, God is working out something good. We may not see it, but we can absolutely count on it.

Thank you for your support.

STATUS: 1pm Thursday, March 12

Church is ON for this weekend, March 15, at all our campuses.

This situation is fluid, and IT COULD CHANGE. So please check back here frequently for updates. They will be posted here and on our Facebook page.

We continue to keep a very close eye on the news surrounding the coronavirus (COVID-19), both locally and globally. The leaders of PCC are working, praying, and talking together throughout EACH DAY so that we can make the wisest decisions we can, based on the most current information as events unfold. We will take every precaution possible so that we can continue to safely gather together and worship at all of our campuses. We welcome everyone to come and worship with us at PCC this weekend if you are well and feel comfortable doing so. If you do not, then please worship with us online at pccwiredlive.net.

THE SITUATION IS FLUID—CHECK OFTEN FOR UPDATES.

Our plan will evolve based on the updates we receive.

Here are the precautions we are taking as of today:

WEEKEND SERVICES ENVIRONMENT

Our greeters will open doors for guests. We will continue to sanitize frequently-touched surfaces before, after, and throughout Sunday mornings. Dream Teamers will serve coffee wearing gloves, instead of having self-serve stations.

We encourage you to continue to greet each other with an elbow bump, a smile, or a wave.

PCC KIDS

Our PCC Kids environments have always maintained a very careful, thorough cleaning regimen, and we will continue to do so with extra vigilance. At the end of each gathering, we will continue to sanitize all of our toys and surfaces. For every child old enough to hold out their hands, they’ll get a squirt of hand sanitizer at check in. As always, we encourage families to refrain from bringing kids to church if they have any sign of contagious illness.

OUR CAMPUSES

We will follow the guidelines of the venues we rent as well as the directives of county and state governments. As of today, March 12, we plan to have all PCC services this coming Sunday (March 15).

GIVING

We will suspend passing offering buckets in the service, but we’ll have them available as you exit the auditorium. We also suggest that you consider giving online instead through our secure platform, which you can access through the PCC app or our website – pccwired.net/give.

TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF

If you feel ill or are concerned about coming to services, then you don’t have to miss church! You can attend with us LIVE Sunday morning at 8:30, 10 and 11:30.  Go to pccwiredlive.net to connect with our Online Campus.

HELPING OTHERS

We are formulating plans right now about how we can mobilize our church to Do Good and help our community during this moment and in the weeks to come.

ENCOURAGEMENT

For many, the spread of this virus has caused fear and anxiety. We know that God has given us a spirit of love, not fear (2 Timothy 1:7). Let’s work together to serve our church and community in a way that demonstrates trust in God. Let’s pray together for healing for those who are infected and affected. Let’s pray together for those who are fearful or feel alone through this.

We look forward to worshiping together with you this weekend – online or in person! If you have questions, contact us at info@pccwired.net or 804-598-1174.

Thank you for your commitment to PCC, your trust in God, and your willingness to care for people around you.  And when you pray, remember to pray for your church.

Thank you for your faithfulness.
