David & Bathsheba.
God gave David plenty of roles to fulfill. He made him king over Israel and Judah, gave him a house to run, wives to love. And it was plenty. It was more than enough to keep him busy.

If David had really been fully living into all of those roles, then he would have been fulfilled.

His desires for purpose and love and connection could all be met with what he already had.
He didn’t need to go looking anywhere else.
