After obtaining her bachelor’s degree in physics from Mary Washington University and working for a large defense contractor for 12 years, and while volunteering as a paramedic for the local rescue squad, Britten realized her calling to care for others. She returned to school and obtained her associate degree in nursing from J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College.
Britten worked for Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, VA for 10 years as an RN in their emergency department before she returned to school to obtain her license to practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Since then, Britten has obtained her doctorate in Nursing Practice and is currently working towards her license to practice as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Britten also has a bachelor’s degree in theology from Belle Meadows Baptist College and is in the process of obtaining her certification as a Mental Health Crisis First Responder.
Britten has lived in Virginia her entire life. She is married and has five children whom she has homeschooled since kindergarten. Her oldest has graduated and lives in Philadelphia, PA and is the general manager for Chipotle. Her next oldest will graduate in May of this year. Her other children are aged 16, 16, and 13. Britten, her husband, Warren, four children, two dogs and a cat live in Aylett, VA. Britten and her family attend the Aylett campus of PCC where Warren serves on the security team and Britten serves in the children’s ministry.
