Part of growing in faith as a follower of Jesus is learning how to share that faith with others. At PCC, we want everyone to come to know Jesus so that they can live their fullest lives possible. But we can’t reach people unless we actually do just that — reach people. We know it can be tough to talk about Jesus, so Pastor Brian offered three ways to start making these connections with just one person at a time:
- Invest
- Invite
- Introduce
Invest in others by spending time with them, invite them to church when the time is right, and introduce them to Jesus by telling them your story of how Jesus changed your life.
That’s exactly how many of the people at PCC came to be here — someone invested in them, invited them to church, and then introduced them to Jesus. Check out these stories from some PCC’ers who came to know Jesus at our church and are now introducing Him to others.
“I came to PCC on the recommendation of one of my closest friends. It was during a time in my life where I was seeking direction, guidance, and most importantly, a place to belong. I found all of those things and more than I could have ever imagined here at PCC. Our church does an excellent job creating a safe space where people from all walks of life can come and explore their faith free of embarrassment or judgment. Wherever a person might be on their faith journey, they can take a step on their walk with Jesus at their own pace. I’m excited for the future of PCC because our church constantly pushes the envelope to reach as many people as we can to spread God’s word. Being a part of that constant push to go beyond is an inspiring mission!” -Ellis Hopson
“In our 14 years at PCC, I’ve learned to trust God again. He was waiting for me the whole time. All of the heartaches, pain, and loss—I was able to set that aside and say, “Okay God, where are we going now?” Following Him has led me to mentoring others, leading several small groups and now serving on the Care Team at the Midlothian Campus. I feel like we are wide open to experience what God will do at PCC over the next few years. I am so thankful that God led us here, and I’m so thankful that He has allowed us to be a part of the mission. I get excited every time I think about it and love telling people about our church!” -Sally Felton
“When I really started listening to the messages that were being taught and applying them to my personal life, I could truly feel myself getting closer to God and could see him working in and around my life. The genuine, welcoming environment at PCC is consistent and refreshing. I have seen major life change, not only in myself, but in people around me. I feel wholeheartedly that PCC’s leadership team has a firm foundation on bringing people to know God. With all of these things, I believe that the sky’s the limit on the number of people we could impact—the number of people we could help to discover that God has been waiting for them their whole lives!” -Matt Peterson
“I’ve been in church for most of my life, but I never felt like I belonged. I felt too broken — like I had to have it all together in order for Jesus to love me. What I didn’t know was that my heart was desperately searching for a relationship with God. When I first came to PCC, the people that greeted me at the door instantly felt like family. I didn’t feel judged. Brian Hughes was teaching about God’s unconditional, fatherly love and how God would stop at nothing to pursue us. I wanted to know more. I left there feeling like I finally had a place to call home. Eleven years later, I still feel that same acceptance and love and I get to be a part of that same feeling for someone else who walks through those doors. PCC is reaching people and showing them the truth about Jesus: that He is love. Anyone who walks through our doors has a place here.” -Aubrianne Adams
“I was raised Catholic and grew up with questions that I felt like I couldn’t ask. Reluctantly, I came to PCC’s Aylett campus in 2022 and had an unexpected experience. The people were so welcoming. There was an undeniable excitement in them. What I found was that PCC offered all the tools I needed for truly KNOWING Jesus and understanding His words in the Bible. Every week, I learn something new. I have discovered my purpose through Growth Track and I now use that purpose to serve at every opportunity I get. PCC is my church – my home away from home. God is moving at PCC, without a doubt, and I can’t wait to see how many more lives will be touched and changed through it.” -May Clapp
